Dependability, Collaboration, Compassion, Unity The Adams County Sheriff's Office is looking for an administrative accounting whiz who is organized, has a knack for building internal and external relationships, and has great customer service skills.

Examples of Duties for Success Summary of Job Duties:
Research and verify incoming invoices/statements to ensure accuracy and proper approval authority.
Prepare and process vouchers and purchase order invoices; verify account coding for accuracy and completeness.
Input all accounts payable data to JD Edwards accounting system; review and balance to batch reports before posting; assure the accuracy of all accounts payable processing.
Research and resolve discrepancies with vendors regarding invoices or statements.
Maintain accurate paperwork supporting expenditures.
Research and review various accounts/expenditures as requested and respond to inquiries related to budgets, expenses, reports, invoices, or account status.
Generate invoices for various divisions.
Accounts receivable to include invoicing, monitoring, working with departments on past due accounts, and working with county regarding write offs and accounts going to collections.
Cash receipting, batch reconciliation and processing of deposits.
Review and enter purchase requisitions into JD Edwards.
Coordinate with Contract Specialist on purchase order status and/or issues.
Reconcile open purchase order report weekly and notify County for errors or corrections.
Follow up with various departments on open purchase orders, end-of-year rollovers, and closing of purchase orders.
Order and maintain records for all agency cell phones, stipends and reconcile monthly billings for accuracy.
Reconcile petty cash checking, cash drawer audits, and credit card transactions Provide training on cash receipting, procurement card processing, accounting practices, and county policy.
Enforce Sheriff's Office policy and procedures related to accounting and uniform policies.
Verify expenditures to the monthly general ledger and request any corrections as necessary.
Prepare and maintain accurate spreadsheets related to various accounts or tasks.
Review Batches prior to Manager approval Assist with quarterly grant reporting Enter and submit Forfeiture DAG's Auditing and approving monthly Pcard transactions Provide support to the Finance Manager; assist with special projects as assigned.
Regular and predicatable attendance.
Qualifications for Success Minimum Requirements:
Excellent knowledge in spelling, grammar, and punctuation; mathematical principles as applied to financial accounting, filing, and letter writing.
Must have High School Diploma or equivalent Three years of accounting in accounts payable, finance, or banking with a background in general fund accounting.
More Qualifications for Success Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Operate modern office equipment; computer skills to include knowledge of JD Edwards software/MS word/Excel/Access/Outlook are required, and proficient ten-key and keyboarding by touch.
Solid knowledge of math and grammar, accuracy in reconciling monies, and developing spreadsheets to word/Excel/Access/Outlook are required.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
