JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs the primary functions of an RN in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of all assigned patients of the unit during his/her shift. Is responsible for meeting the established ICU/Step-Down/Telemetry standards of nursing practice, for managing all assigned personnel, supplies and equipment on the unit, and for promoting teamwork with physicians and personnel of other departments. Is able to function independently with only occasional or limited supervision. Performs other duties as assigned.
Core competencies: Medication Administration, Restraint Use, General Assessment, Pain Management, Falls, Blood Administration, Emergent Blood Administration, Age Specific, Compliance and computerized annual required education (Healthstream); additional competencies as defined by Department Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Required: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing; current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Colorado. CPR required by completion of the unit-specific orientation and before working independently; NIHSS required within 3 months of employment, ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire. Preferred: Baccalaureate degree, critical care or CCRN certification.
Experience: 1 Year experience in Med/Surg and one year critical care nursing preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities: Pursues programs of continuing education consistent with requirements of the Colorado Board of Nursing. Participates in educational conferences and updates and maintains professional knowledge and skills related to areas of responsibility. Attends mandatory in-services as required by Platte Valley Medical Center. Is required to attend 50% of staff meetings each year and mandatory in-services as schedule dictates. Has the technical skills required to safely perform and/or assist with unit specific procedures and operate specialized equipment. This job may require the employee to be responsible for the assessment, treatment, or care of patients of all ages, including neonate, child, adolescent, and geriatric. Consequently, the employee must be competent in the interpretation of a patient''s self-report or behavior, and this information must be interpreted with an understanding of the cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological maturation process. The treatment of patients should be individualized and should reflect an understanding of the developmental needs and range of treatment needs for each patient. (See Competency Assessment policy)
Dress Requirements: Scrubs or other appropriate attire approved by the Department Director.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
